Home of the Free, Land of the Brave.

Why is American the only country that defines their citizens by color rather than race. You are either black or white. That color of your skin sometimes determine how much money you make, what kind of job you will have, how far you will go in life, the type of people you date, and so on. Although, may companies state they have s no discrimination clause, and they have equal opportunities, whereas each employee enjoy the same benefits, and are treated the same, there has been many cases where an employer has been bias against their employees because of the color of their skin.
It is naive to believe that things have changed and that everyone in American is treated equally. Though many things have changed and African Americans have came along way, there is still much more to be done to create equality and put forth into action what our forefathers envisioned when they wrote the Declaration of Independence.
Living in Dayton, from my perspective their is still segregation. Not like years ago when African Americans could not go to the same restrooms and diners and sit anywhere they wanted to on buses or anywhere else for that matter. However, West Dayton is mostly African American. The schools were ran down until most of them were recently renovated, but you can change the appearance of something, but what about the curriculum, and teachers. They have torn down most of the recreation centers to create one central center. Once you hit the outskirts of Dayton going into Oakwood, Centerville, Miamisburg, Kettering, Riverside, all of which are not even 5-25 miles outside of the city limits, where the areas are predominantly white, you run into school of excellence.
