Product of Environment or Product of Choice
Are you a product of your environment or a product of your choice? Your environment, that is what is around you, your surroundings, where you come from, and what social groups you may associate yourself with, is that really what make you, you? Often many excuse their behavior, actions or choices on their environment, but how much does our environment really affect the choices we make?
Our environment does play a major role in the choices we make in life. Our environment is what we are accustomed to. People tend to flock towards things that they are accustomed to rather than taking a step out of the box, or doing things out of the ordinary. Nonetheless, disrupting the status quo is needed, right? If people did not demand change, think out of the box, or invent new things we would not be where we are today, as people, as inhabitants of this earth.
Life has thrown many people many stones, and has not been easy for all. Childhoods of broken dreams, single mothers/fathers or other relatives replacing maternal and paternal figures as many has fallen to drugs, abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, and mental) and other worldly ungodly desires. Living in the worst of the worst abodes, and attending inadequate schools, has proven to be detrimental countless times, however as many as there are people who have fallen into the trap of believing that they are who they are because of their environment, there are also that same amount of people if not more who has not allowed the environment they come from to stifle their growth as a person. That comes down to choice.
The choices we make are typically shaped through reasoning. Inductive and deductive reasoning are the most common form of reasoning.Typically we draw from our experiences to objectively make a choice. Not only do we draw from our experience we also draw from people around us or that we heard or read about experiences. Historically, history repeats itself. Constantly mistakes of the past are being repeated and showcased throughout modern society. Only if one learn from past mistakes or failures will one truly change the course of history.
So are you a product of your environment or a product of your choices? Indeed, you are merely a product of your choice guided by experiences of your environment. Regardless of the environment, you have the power to make choices. Each choice has its own consequences or rewards. Some choices or decisions such as which flavor ice cream to choose is not as life-changing as others. Sometimes knowing whether you made the right decision is not always shown right away, therefore it is alright right to make the sound decision and look for a good outcome.
